Jim McElvaney is a Sheffield based artist fascinated with the way we look at people and the stories we create watching strangers. On a bus or in the street, we wonder ‘who are they, what do they do, what are they feeling?’ It’s these moments of prying contemplation and natural emotion that Jim’s work aims to capture.
In this drawing ‘Anatomy of a Mystery’ (based on an early 1800’s illustration) Jim takes an even closer look at those themes exposing a cross section of the brain and attempting to answer the question he often asks himself ‘what’s going on up there?’
